We were starting our vacation by staying in San Francisco before our flight Thursday morning and bought tickets to the 6/13 game. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would be seeing history live! In the 6th or 7th inning was when the excitement and anxiety began as we watched you pitch your heart out. The strikes kept coming! My phone was blowing up with people texting me and even my brother stationed in Germany was watching it live and sending me messages on Facebook. I ignored them all to not jinx what we were watching you do. We stopped talking about it and just watched with anticipation. When Blanco made that carch in 7th inning, that’s when we knew this could really happen! What an amazing experience to be a part of, and we congratulate you, Matt Cain, on your amazing, perfect game!
Matt Cain pitched in the first game I watched at AT&T park, and I only wish I’d been in the crowd for this game! Watching it on TV was amazing! Great job to Cain and the whole Giants team!
Thanks Giants organization for giving me the honor to congratulate such an amazing athlete. Thanks Cain for making us orouds to be a Giant fan. You made history and made us part of it just by watching you that night with your usual focus and professionalism, pitching every inning, every strike. I am puertorrican and we love baseball. As a fan, you makes me feel so confident whenever you are in the mound.
Good job kid, keep it up.
God bless you.
Frances
Congratulations Matt! 🙂 Great job on your perfect game! There’s no one else who deserves it more than you. You’re such a great pitcher filled with strength, determination, heart, and concentration. Continue with your great work and keep working hard. God bless you, your wife Chelsea, and your daughter Hartley! Once again, Congratulations Matt Cain 🙂 SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS FOREVER & ALWAYS……BLACK & ORANGE BABY!
Matt, I can’t help but feel there’s no one else that deserved this more than you. You’ve always been one of my favorite players, not just as a fan of the Giants, but as a fan of baseball in general. You’ve toughed out some rough times for our team and that’s never gone unnoticed. The way you’ve persevered and quietly become one of the most dominant players in the game is inspiring and heartwarming; your perfect game was the perfect icing. It took retiring 27 straight batters, but now the entire country can know the gem we have here in SF.
So happy for you, keep up the good work, and GO GIANTS!!!
My Boy Matt Cain! We share the same birthday although I am twice your age :). Ever since you came up in 2005 I said you would throw a no-hitter one day, and now you added perfection to that vision. Your first perfect game was also my first perfect game, in my 40th baseball season, and 35th season as a SF Giants fanatic. On June 13th (Lucky 13!) I spent the last 2 innings on my feet in front of the TV with my hands over my mouth! A Perfect Pitcher, a Perfect Team, Perfect Night to always remember. So glad your lovely wife Chelsea was there too. So happy for you Matty Boy, you are a Class Act. You are the first Perfect Giant Pitcher and you so deserve it. THANK YOU!!!!! @lorriemartinez @lorrierusso
Congratulations Matt! This coulkd not have happened to a more deserving guy. There are a few things I had hoped to see in my life regarding the giants. The home run record broken, check; a no hitter, check; giants world series championship, check. I never thought I would see a perfect game, and it was priceless. Awesome, congregations and thanks a ton! Keep up the good work man!
Congratulations Matt Cain! It’s been a pleasure watching you come up through the Giants organization.. weathering through years filled with a lack of run support & never being publicly bitter about it. I always knew one day you would toss either a No-No.. the perfecto was a bonus! You’ve already thrown so well this year, dueling Cliff Lee & the one-hit home opener… it just felt like it was just a matter of time. Couldn’t have happened to a better guy.. Congrats!
Cainer man, you are something else. You know, last year before august I was still one to loath baseball. I never really gave it a chance. “it’s for white people, i’m mexican we don’t do baseball” “fucken boring” “takes forever” “they just stand there with a bat and throw a ball whoopdie doo” were some of the comments that once in a while would exit my mouth when bringing up the sport. After a long grueling semester at State, of my friend grilling me with Giants facts, baseball lessons and what not I finally accepted to go to a game on an August 11th, 2011. Let’s just say that old saying of “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” or “don’t talk if you don’t know” were real cuz as the innings progressed man was I eating up all my words.
Anyways, that’s my little story and I just wanted to congratulate you for everything. I was so blessed to attend that game with my favorite starter pitcher and player ❤ in the mound (Romo is my #1 though sorry, what can i say he's Mexican, I'm Mexican, ya know 😉 The whole game was intense. My friend who is your biggest fan I swear you might have seen her when you took bullpen, she was the one with the camera, short really curly hair. I was the big girl just standing there looking at you laughing and waving like an idiot, she said before the game that you would get a no hitter. I looked at her and nodded my head agreing with the statement. you're a stud man, I always have faith in Cain 🙂 And as the fourth inning rolled in, she leaned into my ear and whispered the taboo words: PERFECT GAME. I panicked and told her to shut the fuck up! don't say it!
And what do you know, Matt MOTHAFUCKEN PERFECT Cain got his perfect game. A man so worthy, the one who deserves it the most. We couldn't be happier. I couldn't be happier Cainer. FELICIDADES. You're it. You're the real deal. In Cain we trust.
Congratulations on your perfect game, Matt! It just seems fitting that you’re the first in Giants franchise history to do it… this Giants fan couldn’t be happier, or more proud!
Matt, I have only been a Giants fan for a few years as I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area, growing up to be an Indians fan. However, I’ve really fallen in love with the Giants over the last 3 years, and will stay up till 130 or 2 am watching those west coast games. The night of your perfect game I was planning on staying up and watching, however I had been feeling sick so I decided to get some sleep instead seeing as I get up for work at 5 am (so 3-4 hrs sleep and being sick not really a good idea). The next morning, I sat down for breakfast, went through my twitter and started crying as I read about your game. I was so bummed I didn’t watch it but so happy for you and the Giants. I watched the archived game that next evening and got chills and cried again!!! The last time I cried watching a baseball game was 1997 when the Indians lost game 7 of the world series! Love watching you and the rest of the Giants play so passionately and am proud to say I am a Giants fan!!
Congratulations Matt! The game started with just me watching, soon followed by my husband. Our son arrived home and called several friends. My daughter and then next door neighbors were added to the family room next. It became a magical party – full of cheers (shots!) and nerves racking tension! Thank you for your hard work and giving us a memorable night of exciting entertainment! Way to go!
I stood in front of my TV holding my 3 year old in great anticipation of this moment. With outstanding defense behind him, the anticipation was as intense or even a bit more than the WS clincher. Matt deserves the Perfecto and that night will live with me and in Giants history forever! Congrats Matt!!!
Dear Matt,
There’s no need for me to express how fantastic your performance was that has written you into the record books; I figure that’s a given. Instead, I’d like to thank you for being such an incredible player and person to look up to as a fan. You have flown under the radar as a major Giants talent for years, and your attitude towards your success has been nothing but graceful.
It is players like you and monumental achievements like this game that make me eternally proud to be a fan.
Aubrey Paris, NJ
A Wednesday night, mid June, Astros…just expected another great pitching outing by you…knew in about the 6th that something special was going on..and you could feel the energy of the crowd(and I was watching from San Diego) behind you…it was on! Great job Matt, my goodness to witness a perfect game is so rare! Thank you so much for such special time. Great Blanco catch, great job by Buster also. Many blessings, you are always a lot of fun to watch and I am so glad you are a GIANT!
Congratulations Matt! Thank you for making that night one of the greatest of my life and knocking #1 off of my bucket list: be at a perfect game. By far the most dominant pitching performance I have EVER seen! Congrats!
Congrats Matt! Waking up the next morning to all the sports shows talking about you and the SFGiants is something I will never forget. Thanks for the memories! -Anne, Danville
My mom and i watched the game at home (Reno, NV) and it was amazing! It was like watching the World Series all over again! We both got a lil teary eyed. We wished we could of been there to watch history being made. You did us proud Matt Cain! Congratulations!
I had recorded the game and was at the wake of my father in law, a huge baseball fan.
We stopped for drinks, and sat outside knowing the game was on inside and with all the yelling it was obviously an exciting game, but somehow I managed to get home without knowing anything more than that.
So at the end of of a long sad day, there was this perfect game that put a smile on my face and that I give some credit to my father in law for getting to see it with all the added excitement of not knowing.
I came all the way from Las Vegas to see this game! What a game it was! Thanks for pitching a great game!!! Congrats and can’t wait too see you start the all star game you deserve it! #yeswecain
Had friends coming in from out of town, so I got some tickets the day before. It was my friends first SF Giants game, so we made sure to get there early. By the fourth, I knew something special was happening, but I basically spent the whole rest of the game sweating. Seeing a perfect game in person is like an infinite Christmas present. It’s the only feeling that compares to a championship win. I was there when Barry hit 756, and this seemed more special. Thanks Cainer!!!
My dad and I went to a gathering with a bunch of baseball fans a few days after being at the game and bragged non-stop. Not only was it the best sporting event I’ve ever seen, it was one of the best things I’ve ever seen, PERIOD. I’ve begun to carry the ticket around with me for good luck. It helps. Congrats, Matt. You are seriously the best.
Nobody’s Perfect? MATT CAIN IS! I wish my Grandpa could’ve seen you win the World Series and pitch the perfect game. He was a huge Giants fan. You are the definition of perfect, and I’m glad we get to see you in a Giants uniform for many years to come! Giants fans, and baseball fans in general, love you. Congrats Matt, you deserved it. I can’t think of a better person to pitch a perfect game other than you.
After technically dating my soulmate/best friend for about 5-6 months, we had a conversation about being “official.” She is old fashion, so I officially asked her out during the 4th inning of Matt Cain’s Perfect Game! That Has To Count As A Good Omen. Atleast I Will Never Forget Our Anniversary, June 13th, Thanks Cain:) I’m Happy, Dating My One True Love, and Offically Part Of Sf History!!! I Can Die Happy:)
Matt, you deserve all of the recognition and praise you have gotten since the game. Although I have never met you of course, you seem like a great guy who put his heart into every game he pitches. Congratulations on all the success this year. Couldn’t be prouder to be a Giants fan! Best wishes for years to come.
I was in Disneyland, following the game on my phone. I listened to the 9th inning on my phone while riding Its a Small World, sitting in front of 2 Dodger fans. When the final out was made, my 7 year old high fives me and asks, “that was a good time for a high five, right Dad?”
Now, I have a new favorite ride, and my same favorite player. Congratulations Matt Cain.
it was my 17 month old son’s bed time when you were going into the ninth inning. I told my wife we need to keep him up so he could witness history. Great game Matty and thank you!
About the 5th inning, I posted on Facebook that ‘I’m loving THIS game!’. I didn’t want to say why, because I didn’t want to jinx him. One of my friends saw it and turned on the game to see why I liked THIS game, was glad he saw my comment. A BIG CONGRATS TO MATT! LOVED THE GAME….GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS!
I actually had a feeling that it was going to happen in the 4th inning. You were lighting batters up plus you had great run support. It was as if all the stars were aligned.
Anyway congratulations Matt “The Horse” Cain! Wish you nothing but the best!
After that game I had no fingernails…I was shaking and gripping the armrests of my chair. I refused to move from my chair. I left my giraffe hat on my head the whole time, too My parents and little brother stayed upstairs so they wouldn’t bother me. After that last out I started crying and still cry a little when I rewatch it. Congratulation, Matt, on having one of, if not THE, most dominant pitching performance in the history of baseball. Matt, I saw you flirt with a perfect game back on Opening Day this season, and I was there to witness it. Glad you finally got your wish come true this month. Congratulations! Now work on pitching a perfect game with your left hand. Just kidding! 😉
I will always remember my dad and I standing together in front of the T.V. watching and hanging on every pitch. We knew you were going to do it when the Shark made that amazing catch in the 7th!
Every moment was exciting and it happened to such a great player. I’ve enjoyed watching this pitching staff own before but this was beyond anything I’ve seen. It was your night. I saw you play a game against the Dbacks and it was one of those nights where it was electric out there. You bring it! Congrats! 🙂
By the fourth inning, I knew something was special. Something compelled me to get to my grandfather’s house to wake him up to watch the game. He is a 92 year old World War 2 vet and has been a Giants fan since they came to the city. Thanks to Matt Cain, he got to enjoy his first Giants world series and perfect game. Sharing those two things with him are incredible memories that I will have forever. Thanks, Mr. Cain.
Matt, I want to congratulate you from El Salvador and tell you you’re the best. The Giants are the best baseball team and maybe I am not on San Francisco but I am a big fan and my heart is in San Francisco
Matty I saw u play at 2010 playoff game when you pitched a no hitter 3-0 and since then I’ve known you were the giants best pitcher and this just proves that. The best perfect game in history of baseball!
My dad and I wish to congratulate Matt Cain on his perfect game. My father is 90 years old and raised his daughter, me right, to be a die-hard Giants fan! We were both so happy on this great history Giant moment!
Congrats on your perfect game Matt I hope u have many more years with the giants

On the night of Cain’s perfect game my husband and I were on our honeymoon in Orlando, FL.
We obviously weren’t able to catch the game live on tv in our hotel room, but we were doing our best to keep up with the MLB app on our iPhones.
I happened to flip through the channels and landed on ESPN. They aired the game live at the beginning of the 8th inning through the end.
My husband and I were so excited we were able to watch that incredible game live from Orlando, and it really gave us a great memory on our honeymoon.
Congrats Cain! What an amazing feat for you and the Giants.

You are a helluva pitcher, Matt, and a class act too! Your team loves you and so does every San Franciscan!!
